Here's our new "wild thing". She is wolf or German Shepherd or both with a touch of Shar Pei that gives her face
interesting wrinkles (you can't see them here, of course). She has more natural wild ways than Kaiya (who is 3/4 coyote) at
the same age. Kaiya learned to hunt mice from a National Geographic video about wolves in Yellowstone Park (no, I'm not joking)
but Mei Mei seems to know without any such intro to the art.
Tomorrow we are going out to cottage
so the girls can practise their skills.

And the Rest of Us ...
Many fur friends have passed on and we are now owned by Kaiya and the irascible 5 pound Chewie who is a Shorkie (Shi
Tzu/Yorkie cross).
Chewie, despite being about 10% the size, rules on all things except the
occasional bone dispute. The first time she met Malachi, the bull mastiff next door, she roared straight at him intent on
ripping him to shreds. Malachi is all emotion and this incident upset him for days but it never crossed his mind to swallow
her.

Kaiya is a "coydog" and bored blind
unless she is loose in the bush preferably trying to murder a squirrel. Luckily, she is not successful at this pursuit
although she is getting better at mice and once surprised herself by catching an grouse.
In addition, we have Luciano, an ancient canary who sings like an Italian tenor wishes he could sing,
and his faithful lady companion who has never really settled into a name (Blondie might do). Luciano is so old that he looks
wrinkled despite the feathers. But he's kept his good looks and fabulous voice. It has been exciting to listen to his repetoire
grow over the years and I wish we could catch him singing. But he's a shy bird and promptly quits if anyone comes into the
room. Not only that, he sings less and less these days.
I expect we will regret not having tried harder to record Luciano at his best.
